Digital Orthophoto Quadrangle (DOQ) ~1990

A geo-referenced DOQ is a computer-generated image of an aerial photograph in which the image displacement caused by terrain relief and camera tilt has been removed. The DOQ combines the image characteristics of the original photograph with the georeferenced qualities of a map. This one is a composite of two photos. It is shown here mainly to reference Kala Point properties. Compare to 2003 color photo.

Contour Map

Same data as in Shaded Relief Map (top of page) with 3-meter contour intervals.

Aspect Map

Same data as in Shaded Relief Map at top of page.
Black is northerly, blue is westerly, white is southerly, and red is easterly.
Aspect maps are used in viewshed analysis. For example, if you were standing anywhere in the blue area, you would have a potential view of the water and Cascade Mountains to the east.

Note: These maps were processed from raw data. For the average user, one of the richest sources of easy-access information and mapping for Kala Pointers is the Jefferson County GIS (Geographic Information System). It is not only a gold mine for parcel-specific details, but also for county-wide data and maps. Very few counties of this size have such a high-caliber GIS department. Be sure to look at both the 'Parcel Map' and 'Critical Areas' pages because each contains unique information and layers absent in the other: Jefferson County Interactive Mapping
