CO 2011 Winner's Letter of Thanks: I'd like to thank the CGSA for honoring me with this scholarship! The reward has already assisted me with my Jump Start Program (where I'm able to take college credit classes while still in high school). The organizations efforts to help further a persons education is commendable and I hope that this scholarship will be offered in the future so that other great students and spouses may benefit from this just as I have! Once again, I give my greatest thanks and appreciation. Kayla Stammer __________________________________________________________________________________ If you'd like to volunteer to be a silent donor or to contribute to our scholarship fund with your generous donation posted as one of the scholarships named in your honor, please contact us for more details! mailto://bacgspouses@yahoo.com 2007 Spouse Scholarship was made possible by The Vazquez Family in honor/memory of: Ramona "Rae" Morales. If ever there was a giving woman who believed in mankind, the love we could and should show one another, and a true advocate for all, "Rae" was that person. My grandmother "Rae" was my hero and will forever be the person I hope to mirror with acts of volunteerism and kindness. I've always said, "If I could have just as much generosity in my whole body as she had in her one little pinky finger, I'd be a blessed woman!" -Ramona Vazquez, previous scholarship winner and CGSA member. 2009 Dependant Scholarship was made possible by The Vazquez Family in honor of the "Coastie Kid: The Bravest Little Members of the USCG." In honor of the children who support their parents every step of the way, a donation of $500 was made to the 2009 Dependent Scholarship Winner, Ms. Danielle Swidrak. Danielle wrote an outstanding essay that gave a tremendous view into the "coming of age" for a college student whose life lessons while being a Coastie Kid and the influence of her parents, gave her the necessary tools to make mature changes for the better of the person she wanted to be. Danielle is deserving of the scholarship for more than just her writing skills, she earned it from being the faithful child whose lifestyle was filled with missed birthday's, absent holidays, tearful goodbyes, and the missed tucked-into-bed-at-night moments. I dedicate the donation to all the brave little Coasties who without their love and support and above all else, their sacrifice, so that the rest of us could sleep better at night. Thank you Danielle and to all the other Danielle's out there! 2010 Dependant & Spouse Scholarship was made possible by a Grant from ENTERPRISE-RENT-A-CAR Enterprise-Rent-A-Car provided a $1500 check to the Spouse Association. $1000 of that donation was set aside to ensure the scholarship program would continue another year. The additional $500 was set aside for Nate's Open Door Baby Exchange & Pantry that provides our families with infant, toddler and children's items and over the years, has branched out to include Emergency Family Assistance, School Supplies for PIE, and hosting all of the Children's Activities. MWR is more that just "fun"...it really is the Morale and WELFARE of our Families! Enterprise-Rent-A-Car has shown such great support and dedication towards our military and their families. We thank them from the top and bottom of our hearts! Please use the link on our "links" page to take advantage of the special discount they are offering to all of our Coast Guard Members! 2011 Dependant & Spouse Scholarship was made possible by a donation from Street Survivors of Maryland Car Club For the past 5 years, the car club has adopted our club and made some pretty exceptional donations to our Pantry and our organization to assist our USCG Families. This year a portion of their donation went to fund the scholarship program. They are a group of wonderful and caring community service and neighbors who want to give back to the military...thanking them and their families for all that they give. If you have a chance to go to a show...DO IT! Lots of fun for the entire family! SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS:
