The situation so far...

The baby has been
diagnosed at the
Clinical Institute Fundeni
(Institutul Clinic Fundeni), Bucharest, Romania, and he is
currently a patient at that hospital.
According to the doctor's
referral, the most critical need for the baby
is a liver transplant.

The situation is complicated by the heart condition of the baby
and by his nutrition problems.

Several announcements have been made by the parents and a number
of volunteers in the media, and on the internet, and
a donor has been found.
The donor is not an immediate relative of the baby, but her blood
type is compatible with the baby's. The compatibility has been
established based on blood tests performed on both the baby and the
donor.

Several bank accounts have been opened for fund
raising.

about the possibility of a liver transplant. The most affordable

Inquiries have been made at Romanian banks, but all answers came
back negative. The banks claimed they only sponsor institutions, not individuals.

There is an ongoing search for hospitals in the USA where the
transplant could be performed. TO DO: list other countries.

There is an ongoing search for charity organizations that could
support partially or totally the medical expenses.
