NEW MICHIGAN EQUINE STATE LAW
EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1st, 2001

There is a new equine law that was signed the 1st of this year and very few people are aware of it. 

It is the Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA) Law. 

It requires horses being transported by any means on public roads to have a current negative coggins test at hand.

These changes are part of amendments to Michigan's Animal Industry Act, Act 466 of the Michigan Public Acts of 1988, as amended. Section 26 of this act pertains to EIA
