Objectives:
The objective of this organization is the reenactment of the American Civil War through the accurate, authentic representation
of a Maryland confederate cavalry unit, as dismounted combatants.
The purpose is for public education on the life style of 19th century Americans during the conflict with concentration on the
Maryland confederate cavalryman.

Policies:
All members should strive to represent an accurate impression of 2nd Maryland Cavalry Troopers and 19th century army camp
life through the research, procurement and maintenance of proper uniforms, equipment and weapons.
All members are requested to strive to respect and enhance their reenactment experience, as well as that of their fellow
members and neighboring units, by refraining from using or displaying anachronisms either through discretion, concealment or
abstinence for the duration of the events, particularly while in the camp of the Second Maryland Cavalry. Please follow the
guidance of the commander, NCOs, and veteran troopers to insure a good experience for all.
Please attempt to observe military and civilian courtesy at all times. Guidelines on
19th century courtesy are to be posted on the web site.
Local, State and Federal laws are to be observed at all times. Use or possession of controlled substances can and will result in
expulsion from the event and the organization.
Use of alcohol is to be within local laws and event rules. 2nd Maryland Cavalry policy on alcohol use is: Alcohol consumption
is permitted in the company camp after 9pm. All alcoholic containers are to remain concealed, and their contents consumed
from period vessels. Anyone who consumes alcohol at other times will be excused from handling weapons, participating in
scenarios and interaction with the public.

Participants:
The primary goal of the Second Maryland Cavalry is to represent a military combat unit with an emphasis on accuracy and
safety. In order to meet these goals the following guidelines will be observed.
Anyone wishing to join the unit as a combatant must be at least 16 years of age, and in reasonably good health. Participants
must be 16 to handle weapons.
Anyone wishing to join the unit as a civilian, must be associated with a participating combatant.
Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian participant.
Any females wishing to portray male combatants must do so by convincingly passing for a male while in the uniform.
All Participants are required to obtain insurance as offered by the company's battalion affiliation. A nominal dues ($10.00 plus
PACS Mem. fee) is required to cover the cost of this and other incidental expenses. See commander for PACS fee amounts
