Any adult can - we’re a friendly crowd, but like any performance, good practice makes for a good performance. Do I need to call in advance to get an open mike spot? Yes! Please do. The sooner we know, the better. What can I play? Essentially, anything that doesn’t plug in. We provide a grand piano and an electric bass for anyone to use. In the past we’ve allowed some moderately complex acts and they were superb performances but the amount of set up and change-over time was problematic so we’re going to have to limit it that to acoustic only. Percussion is cool but please remember you are playing with gentle volumes here. It ain’t a stadium concert or a bar. How long, or how many songs does each performer do? Typically, each performer is limited to 3 songs. On average, that’s about 12 minutes each. Occasionally, we have to adjust to accommodate as many performers as possible. It’s rare, but we’ve had nights when there wasn’t enough time to get everyone on who had called in advance which is the last thing we want to have happen. How long does the night last? Until it gets light again. No, seriously we try to wrap up by 10:30. 3 hours of music for $5. WHAT A DEAL! Typically, it’s about a dozen players, but has ranged from 10 to 18.
