Don't miss "OPEN MIC NIGHT", every Monday beginning at 7 pm at THE UPSTAGE

An accomplished musician sharing a style of folk and western music that lives on through the ages and crosses multiple generations.

Jack was born in Philadelphia and moved to Easton, Maryland when he was 9.  As a boy growing up on the Eastern Shore, Jack sang in every church in town whenever he could.  He studied voice with Richard Chamberlain (Original Brigadoon on Broadway) at Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio for 2 years, and then he took a couple of years off to sing folk music on the east coast.  During that time he sang in Baltimore, Washington, D.C. and Ocean City, Md. that included a week opening for the Jim Queskin Jug Band at the Brickskellar in Washington.  He then enrolled at The Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore where he studied under Metropolitan Opera star Francesco Valentino.  On stage, Jack has performed in everything from Melodrama to Opera including drama and musical comedy.  Recently of Aspen and Steamboat Springs, Jack sang “bottom-end vocals” with Steamboat Springs’ favorite band, Whitfield-Ward in the mid to late ‘80’s.  Also in the late 1980’s Jack spent two years in Nashville, TN, doing studio work and singing bass with “Standing-Room Only”, an acapella jazz-vocal quartet. In Aspen, in the '90s, Jack was involved with the Aspen Community Theater and Four Rivers Theater and was a regular cast member of Aspen Stage on the Air, a weekly radio show doing poetry, drama and comedy.  Jack's Musical Theater credits include the roles of H. C. Curry in "110 In The Shade", Judd Fry in "Oklahoma" (twice), J. B. Biggley in "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying",  Senex in "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum", Mysterious Man in "Into The Woods", and Emile de Becque in "South Pacific".

In Grand Junction, Jack sang in musical performances with The Empire Theatre Company and the Western Colorado Chorale, and sang regularly and was the choir director at the First Congregational Church.  He sang many times at the Fruita Farmer's Market and Community Social, and at "Music on Main" in Grand Junction.  He was a regular performer at Higher Grounds and Java Junction, Grand Junction's two most popular coffee houses.  Jack plays 6-string guitar, 12-string guitar, Autoharp and harmonica.

After moving to Gillette, Wyoming, Jack became involved in the music scene there too.  He hosted the regular Open Mic Night at Downtown Java Jae's (Now Brothers Coffee Company and hosted by Adam Hart) the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month.  He also sang at the Chophouse, Gillette's finest restaurant, the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from 7 to 10 pm.

Now Jack has moved again and is located in Port Townsend, Washington, on the Olympic Peninsula.  You can see and hear him every Monday nite at THE UPSTAGE where he co-hosts OPEN MIC with Gerry Sherman, starting at 7 pm.

Jack is available for parties, family gatherings, reunions, picnics, weddings, and church functions, you name it!  He is also available to do studio work including voiceover and jingles.

Text Box: One of Jack’s favorite pastimes is to play music on the street in downtown Port Townsend. And one beautiful spring day, Raf (the man responsible for Port Townsend Daily Photo) was on the street taking pictures of street musicians for his daily journal. You can read his review and hear a bit of Jack’s music at http://porttownsenddailyphoto.blogspot.com/ and select “Street Musicians” or just google “Port Townsend Daily Photo”. You can also learn about the soul of Port Townsend. Raf’s pictures capture the heart of the entire area.

Text Box: The 1st taping of “Towns End ~ Live” was a huge success.
Jack opened the show and was the MC. Then we heard from “Robert Force” and “Queen Silveen” followed by “Frank Hill”. Frank is a local treasure whom you do not want to miss if you can help it. Following Frank came “Jonathan & John” and yes, this is none other than Jonathan Stratman, our very own TV Station Director. And then, the lady who finally bought a house and moved here, South Winds Productions recording artist “Leslie Wake” accompanied on guitar by Mark Hering. And for the icing on the cake, this incredible evening was topped off by a set from the “Crow Quill Night Owls”. This homegrown production provided an evening of wonderful entertainment as well as much needed support for our local TV station.

Text Box: Review of Jack Reid and Friends - Live at the Pinon Grill

Fri, 01/18/2008 - 00:30 , Posted by deculpepper Comments:1
My personal review of Jack Reid's CD Live at the Pinon Grill
I have not but good things to say about this CD, the music is great and the thing I love about it the most is that you can actually understand what the singers are singing about.
Great music and great instrumentation as well. I have included in this review a link to one of his songs about Wyoming "Winds Of Wyoming" and published with his permission in Brinnon, WA January 17th 2008 at the Community Center. Jack gave a fantastic presentation to the group for after Dinner entertainment. Music link http://deczz.com/music/JackReid.htm
I want to personally thank Jack for the music I really enjoyed it and especially like the autographed CD. Thanks
