How much does a portrait cost?

Basic watercolor paintings of a dog, or dog and sheep cost $500.00.  This price  includes a frame ready  archival mat.  It does not include shipping. A deposit of 50% of the quoted cost is due when you commission a painting.
What is the process?
I will need to meet with you and your dog, watch the dog work, and gather reference material.  I will take photos and/or  make some sketches.
How long does it take?
The photo/sketching session takes approximately one hour.  There is a year lead time on portraits.
Where can we meet?
You are welcome to stop by my farm on Whidbey Island, work the sheep here and get your dogs photos, etc. taken.  Or we can meet at a trial (I attend many in Washington State and British Columbia).  We might be able to meet at a trainer's place.  Or we can meet at the 2009 finals next fall in Klamath Falls.
What if I decide I don't want a painting after all?
When you commission a painting you are in effect buying it.  So, if you change your mind you need to tell me immediately so that I don't paint a painting for you. If  you do not tell me that you have changed your mind, you will forfeit your deposit.
What if I don't like the painting?
If you do get a painting that you don't like, for any reason, you are under no obligation to buy it.  If this is not clear, please do not hesitate to discuss it with me in person.  Your satisfaction is very important to me.
Give me a call and we can talk over your project!
